Start with the game you play.
Find a paddle that fits your game and budget. Compare the BECAVO A01 and P01, understand their materials and dimensions, and know what to check before ordering.

THE PRACTICE. THE NEXT POINT. YOUR NEXT PADDLE.
01 / YOUR STARTING POINT
Choose the description closest to you. Use the advice as a shortlist, then check how a paddle feels in your hand.
New to pickleball
YOUR PRIORITY / CONSISTENCY
Start with a paddle that feels manageable and gives you room to learn. A forgiving face and predictable response can make practice more enjoyable.
Set a budget you can comfortably keep. Leave room for balls and court time.
LOOK FOR
A standard or wider face, a comfortable grip and a weight you can move easily.
TRY FIRST
Serves, returns and soft shots. Check whether you can keep the ball in play with a relaxed swing.
BECAVO DIRECTION
Start your shortlist with the A01 at $99. Its A Series all-court positioning and lower price make it a useful first option to compare. Check the listed weight and grip fit before ordering.
Ready to improve
YOUR PRIORITY / ONE CLEAR CHANGE
If your current paddle feels comfortable and lets you practise the shots you want to learn, you can keep using it. Consider trying another paddle when you can name a specific change you want, such as more room for your second hand or a more comfortable grip.
For a shot you find difficult, practise it with your current setup and note what happens before deciding to buy. If the paddle develops an unfamiliar response or visible damage, ask the manufacturer about that specific issue before choosing a replacement.
LOOK FOR
A specific improvement you can describe, then compare the weight, balance, shape and construction.
TRY FIRST
The shot you want to improve, followed by resets and volleys. Check what you gain and what feels harder.
Coming from tennis
YOUR PRIORITY / REACH AND TOUCH
Your racquet experience is a useful starting point. Pay equal attention to how the paddle handles short swings and softer shots near the net.
Extra reach is a trade-off. Make sure the paddle still feels manageable during fast exchanges.
LOOK FOR
Enough handle space for your backhand. Compare an elongated shape with a wider option.
TRY FIRST
Two-handed backhands, quick blocks and soft shots. Check that the paddle is easy to reposition.
02 / KNOW THE SPECS
Four details make a useful first comparison. Read them together, then test the paddle with the shots you actually play.
01 / WEIGHT & BALANCE
Both A01 and P01 have a target weight of 230 ± 10 g and a listed range of 220–240 g (about 7.8–8.5 oz). The shared weight range does not mean they will feel identical; compare balance and swing feel when you can. For help reading weight ranges and comparing your current setup, see our pickleball paddle weight guide.
Try this: Compare controlled swings and quick volleys. Listed weight is useful, but balance and swing feel also affect how easily a paddle moves.
02 / SHAPE
A01 measures 415 × 190 mm (about 16.34 × 7.48 in), while P01 measures 420 × 190 mm (about 16.54 × 7.48 in). Both have the same listed width; P01 is 5 mm longer overall.
Try this: Compare these dimensions with your current paddle. Overall length does not tell you how much handle space is available.
03 / THICKNESS & CORE
Both models are 16 mm thick. A01 uses a polypropylene (PP) honeycomb core; P01 uses an MPP foam core. Core material and the complete construction matter alongside thickness.
Try this: Compare soft shots, drives and blocks if you have a chance to demo. A thickness number alone cannot describe the complete playing feel.
04 / GRIP & HANDLE
Grip circumference is how thick the handle feels. Handle length is the space available for your hands. They are separate measurements.
Before ordering: Both models have a 140 mm handle length (about 5.51 in). A01’s grip circumference is 110 mm (about 4.33 in); P01’s is 105 mm (about 4.13 in). Compare both measurements with your current paddle and usual grip.
03 / THE BECAVO COLLECTION
Start with the construction, listed weight and price. Then check the fit for your own game. A Series and P Series describe the collections’ playing directions.

04 / BEFORE YOU BUY
Ask a local club, shop or another player whether you can borrow or demo a paddle on your shortlist. Check any fees and how long you can use it before arranging the trial.
If you can borrow or demo a paddle, try the same shots with each option. A few familiar drills are more useful than one hard hit.

01
Compare the delivered cost, including shipping and any taxes. Choose an amount you are comfortable spending.
02
Hold your usual grip, make controlled swings and try your backhand. Check weight, handle space and balance.
03
Play serves, returns, soft shots and quick blocks. Notice which shots feel easier and which need adjustment.
04
If you plan to compete, check the equipment requirements for your event and confirm the exact model. Read the shipping and return conditions before ordering.
Compare the candidate with your current paddle using the same ball and similar drills. Note what felt easier, what became harder and which difference matters most to your game. Record any overgrips or added weights so you know which setup you tried.
Revisit the shots you care about in another session if possible. Choose the paddle whose benefits you can repeat and whose trade-offs you accept. If the difference remains unclear, keep using your current paddle while you compare further.
A LITTLE MORE GUIDANCE
The details should help you make the choice your own.
Do I need a power paddle as a beginner?
Start with a manageable paddle and a predictable response. Learning to place the ball and repeat your shots is a useful first priority. Power is one part of the decision.
Both paddles are 16 mm. What is different?
A01 uses a PP honeycomb core and measures 415 × 190 mm for $99. P01 uses an MPP foam core and measures 420 × 190 mm for $119. Both have a T700 carbon fiber face, 16 mm thickness, thermoformed unibody construction and a target weight of 230 ± 10 g (220–240 g). See the full comparison.
Do the colors change the specifications?
A01 is available with Orange accents. P01 comes in Black or Pink Purple; both P01 colors have the same listed specifications. Check the product page for current availability.
How much should I spend on my first paddle?
A01 is $99 USD and P01 is $119 USD. Choose a budget you can comfortably keep, and include any shipping, taxes, balls and court time. The higher-priced option is not automatically the better fit for every player.
How do I check handle and grip fit?
Both models have a 140 mm handle length (about 5.51 in). A01’s grip circumference is 110 mm (about 4.33 in); P01’s is 105 mm (about 4.13 in). Compare both measurements with your current paddle and usual grip, especially if you use a two-handed backhand.
